How I Got Myself Healthy with Running
I’ve got an answer that works.
Here’s the story:
Back in late 2008, I had been out of college and in a desk job for 11 years.
And my waistline showed it! I had no real endurance to speak of and was easily winded.
And then a bit of a miracle happened. My employer had a lottery drawing for spots in the 2009 Boston Marathon. Even back when I was in shape 11 years before, qualifying was not an option so I figured this was my only shot to ever run that prestigious race.
Only one problem...50,000 employees, 20 spots - not the best odds.
Since I mentioned that miracle you probably know where this is going :) I got one! Now I had six months to raise $3,000 for charity and learn how to run a marathon.
Long story short, I did it. It was a bit of slog and there was lots of walking...but I fell in love.
Since then I've run numerous marathons including Boston 3 more times...raising over $20,000 for charities.
But I wanted more...how do I get faster? How can I finish a race without walking? How can I use this to really improve my health?
I tried everything out there, just like you.
There was just too much conflicting information out there and I saw that people just like me were struggling to know what to do when and having a hard time finding the motivation to stay at it long enough to see the benefits.
And so I created the Mbio 30 Day Running Challenge where I shared my running plans for different skill levels and we could all cheer each other on.
Now I'm running faster for longer and really seeing myself look a lot more fit in the mirror. I feel better than I have in years!
